Geocoin Club February Coin - Ghosts of Caching Past

Well it's about time, right? We're proud to announce the February coin design to the public. This coin celebrates the Locationless cache. As many may know, Locationless caches were a type of cache that required you to a "thing" near you like the subject of the cache. So instead of many people finding one spot, many people found many spots.

Recently, this cache type was phased out of the repretoire at Geocaching.com and we thought it noteworthy enough to commemorate it as a coin. The coin celebrates boldy on the front what is perhaps the most famous Locationless cache - the Yellow Jeep. On the back, a friendly buzzard pays its respects.

Also new for February we are end of lifing the Green Selective Availability coin as the New Subscriber coin. We will have a brand new design available in March and for this month only all new subscribers will receive the regular issue coin instead of the typical Green SA coin. The remaining Green SA coins will be sold in February in the MOS with some surplus December coins.

Additionally, we have addressed the issue with cracking sleeves. We shopped long and hard, but eventually decided to comission someone to make them custom for us. Next month, you'll get your coin in a new, specially made PVC pouch with the activation instructions printed right on the sleeve and an area to write the activation code on the sleeve in ballpoint pen. We're planning on putting a couple extra sleeves in every order as well to replace any that may have cracked previously.

We hope you enjoy this coin, we are really excited about it and our upcoming March, April and May designs. We think this coin looks pretty cool (especially the Jeep) but... there's more to this coin than meets the eye. In a few days, we'll post the details about this coin's special feature. Until then, enjoy the design and let speculation run rampant!
